Temple visiting windows
Incredible India lists 4:00 am–12:00 noon and 1:00–9:00 pm. Confirm daily worship interruptions and campus entry arrangements before travel.

A closer look
Set within Banaras Hindu University, the New Vishwanath Temple is a distinctive landmark dedicated to Lord Shiva. Its tall spire and campus setting offer an experience quite different from the narrow lanes around Kashi Vishwanath. A visit can be combined with a gentle exploration of the university's tree-lined surroundings.
Your visit, thoughtfully planned
All times are local to Varanasi (IST). Check the linked visitor resources before leaving, particularly on festival days.

Choose the early morning or a late-afternoon visit during the published opening windows. Allow for the midday closure and remember that this is a working university campus.
October to March is our suggested season for comfortable sightseeing. Start early in hot weather; monsoon rain and high river levels can change access to the ghats.
Allow 1–1½ hours at the temple, plus time for a campus walk.

Open route for Walking to New Vishwanath Temple, BHUFor buses or shared vehicles, ask the hotel desk about current connections and stops. There is no verified direct service or timetable in this guide; allow extra time for waiting, transfers and the final walk.
Auto and e-rickshaw links show a standard driving route as a reference, not a verified route for that vehicle. Fares, permissions and service availability must be agreed locally.
BHU is a large campus, so entering the university does not mean you have reached the temple. Agree a suitable drop-off and pickup point, and check the final approach if anyone needs help with walking or steps.
